Steven Joseph Real Estate Scholarship

The truth is, I come from a very humble back ground and my journey has never been easy. Our family did not have a great deal of money and frankly luxuries did not exist. I was the first person in my immediate family to attend (and graduate from) undergraduate and graduate school. I had no idea how to apply and I definitely had no idea how to pay for it. My grades were good and I worked my tail off washing dishes at local restaurants, construction jobs and the City Parks Department. All I did was save money as much as I could to give myself a chance. I applied for schools and took the SATs using all my savings.

Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to study at Canisius College (now Canisius University) in Buffalo, NY - Go Griffs! While getting in was one hurdle, staying in was all together the most challenging thing I ever had to do in my life. I had two work study jobs, worked in the residence life office, worked on the College paint crew and took any work I could. Needless to say, I maxed out my loans and credit cards, signing one promissory note after the other. All to pay tuition, books, room and board. I just remember at that time in my life - saying to myself - is it always going to be this tough? Am I destine for constant hustle and grinding every day of my life?

It was at that moment that I made a commitment - someday I will be in a position to give back. Someday, I will be in a position to help out the next "me" by contributing to their journey. So here we are...I am a very blessed man and have so much to be grateful and thankful for. It is now time for me to give back! I am personally funding The Steven Joseph Real Estate Scholarship.

I have partnered with SPARK, the education foundation for Prince William County Public Schools to offer this opportunity. The Steven Joseph Real Estate scholarship is designed to support high school students pursuing a 2 or 4-year degree in the fields of Real Estate or Business. This scholarship recognizes the academic potential and passion of students who are committed to shaping the future of these industries.

So high school seniors...here is an opportunity for you...and I want to help you. Go pursue your dreams...go work hard...grind it out...surround yourself with good people...go get it!!!
